Autumn Beach Escapes: Discover the Tranquil Beaches Near Rowse Farm Holiday Cottages

Are you thinking of heading to the beach this autumn? After the busy summer season, our local beaches transform into serene getaways. With fewer crowds, still-warm waters, and the seasonal dog ban lifted, it’s the perfect time to enjoy the coastline with your four-legged friends.

Here at Rowse, we’re fortunate to have a variety of dog-friendly beaches just a short drive away. Whether you’re after long walks on sandy shores or a cozy pub with a sea view, there’s something for everyone.

Tregantle Beach – A Year-Round Adventure

For those looking for an all-year-round dog-friendly beach, Tregantle is a fantastic choice—just make sure the military flags aren’t flying! When they are, the beach is off-limits due to occasional firing exercises. But on quieter days, Tregantle offers wide stretches of sand perfect for letting your dog run free while you take in the beautiful coastal views.

Freathy Beach – A Hidden Gem in Whitsand Bay

If you’re up for a bit of adventure, Freathy Beach in Whitsand Bay is worth the steps down. This beach is a delight at low tide, revealing plenty of space for you and your dog to explore. However, be mindful of the tide! The beach can get cut off quickly, so keep an eye on the water and your timing.

Seaton Sands and Downderry – Local Favourites

We love spending time at Seaton Sands and Downderry. These two beaches are dog-friendly all year round and perfect for a leisurely day by the sea. Peanut, our crazy English Springer Spaniel, never misses the chance to splash in the waves, while we often enjoy a relaxing drink afterward.

For those looking to unwind, there are plenty of nearby spots to grab a drink or a bite to eat. The Inn on the Shore, The Beach House, and The Smugglers Inn are our go-to places after a beach day. And for something a little more special, Bewsheas in Downderry is the perfect spot to treat yourself to a glass of something cold with some yummy tapas.

Venture to the North Coast: Widemouth Bay and Bude

For those willing to drive a bit further, the north coast offers its own coastal charm. Widemouth Bay is just over an hour’s drive away and is dog-friendly from now until next May. It’s a vast sandy beach where your dogs can roam freely, and if you fancy extending your trip, the seaside town of Bude is close by.  Bude is famous for its sea swimming pool, a hotspot for wild swimmers even in the cooler months.

There’s something magical about the coast in autumn, with crisp air, quiet beaches, and fewer crowds. Whether you’re seeking adventure with your dog or just want to enjoy a peaceful break, Rowse Farm Holiday Cottages are the perfect base for exploring the beauty of Cornwall’s beaches.
