Pillaton Gardening Club Summer Show

Arrangement in a Teacup

Much excitement filled Rowse Farm this past weekend as the Pillaton Gardening Club Summer Show 2024 was held in the village hall. Notably, six cherry tomatoes and three pears became the stars of a rainy September weekend! Encouraged by some lovely older community members, Kirsty decided to try her hand at flower arranging. That’s a bit of an understatement, though. Typically, we always place a small fresh flower arrangement in our cottages for our guests, and the gardening shows, therefore, allow us to scale it up. After all, everything seems easier with Pinterest and YouTube, right?!

For this year’s summer show, even Barry decided to enter a couple of categories. To everyone’s delight, one of his entries, in particular, won first prize in the Photography category for a stunning photograph of flowers!

It’s fair to say that the show is not stress-free! Kirsty never finds enough time to enter all the categories she would like. However, the most important thing is that we genuinely enjoy taking part.

Defending a Title!
In the Spring show, Kirsty won a trophy for earning the most points in the floral art section, so she had a title to defend! At the weekend, she was once again presented with the trophy for the most points in the floral art section, albeit shared with Carole, who produced some stunning arrangements. Well done, Carole!

Talent
Indeed, amazing talent thrives in our little village, with entries in the Pillaton Gardening Club Summer Show 2024 ranging from cakes, quiches, and jams to vegetables, tapestries, handmade wooden boxes, walking sticks, children’s artwork, knitted items, jewelry, and photography. Consequently, we feel very lucky to live in this wonderful part of the world.
